Working with the World

Multicultural, multilingual teams are already the norm in the healthcare sector, hospitality, construction and public services, but it can be a challenge to communicate and work together effectively.

Working with the World is a training programme designed to help you build the awareness, skills, confidence, knowledge and understanding to work more effectively with colleagues and clients from other cultures and who speak other languages.

To lead and work successfully with colleagues from different cultures, it is important to:

  • Build knowledge of different cultures to understand their communication style, behaviours and values
  • Understand your own values and how they may affect the way you work
  • Learn to respect and work with people with values and ways of working that are different from your own
  • Know how to adapt your communication style and behaviour to foster better working relationships
  • Be proactive and develop practical strategies to address difficult situations that may arise from people having different values.
